After completing a degree in Business Information Technology, I started working as an IT Technician at a secondary school. With support and training, I progressed to become Network Manager.
From there I moved to one of the biggest Multi-Academy Trusts in the country, looking after a large number of schools in the North West area as ICT Cluster Manager. During this time, I became a Microsoft Certified Professional, Prince2 Certified Project Manager and ITIL qualified. This role, along with my qualifications, gave me the necessary experience and skills to become Director of IT for Great Schools Trust.
As Director of IT, I am responsible for the strategic development and management of the Trust’s ICT infrastructure and support service, including day-to-day management of ICT support for the Trust and its academies, development of ICT resources and strategic development of ICT capacity, and ensuring the Trust’s resources and services are fit for purpose and support future development.
Whilst we can only guess what technologies the children of today will be using in the future, whether it be in their work environment or their personal lives, I believe we must do everything that we can to ensure they have the ICT and computing skills required to adapt and succeed.
