I have been part of the Great Schools Trust since 2021, working as a Personal Development Officer for King's Leadership Academy Bolton. I have been involved in the youth sector for over ten years and I have completed a degree in Outdoor Leadership at the University of Central Lancashire with a focus on risk management and behaviour.
After graduating from University of Central Lancashire, I worked overseas as an aerial ropes instructor. In this role, I worked with people of all ages and supported in facilitating a challenging and rewarding outdoor experience. However, my passion for the outdoors began when I joined the Air Training Corps in 2011 and completed all levels of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. During this time in the Air Training Corps I also achieved the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer and received the Keith Dobie Award.
Currently, I am an officer in the Royal Marine Combined Cadet Force as part of the Trust’s newest unit at King's Leadership Academy Bolton, where we endeavour to create an environment which fosters independence and encourages students to develop their leadership skills.
As Personal Development Officer for King's Leadership Academy Bolton, it is my pleasure and my privilege to offer equal opportunities for all students, regardless of their background, physical ability or prior academic attainment. Within my role I hope to instil positive habits and essential skills that can be applied both in and out of the school setting. I also support students in navigating the world post education.
Finally, I hope to challenge the misconception that leadership is an inherent trait. Leadership can be learnt; it is not the birthright of the elite. This is why I believe so passionately in our mission to empower all our students to be leaders in their own right; to step out of their comfort zones and develop a strength of character which will guarantee them success in the future.
