Jeff Taylor

Principal of King's Lander Primary Academy

Jeff Taylor originally qualified as a teacher in 1992 and worked in two other schools before taking over as Deputy Headteacher at King’s Lander Primary Academy (formerly known as Lander Road Primary School) in 2002. He spent 13 years as the school’s Deputy before being appointed Headteacher – a challenging and exciting role in which “no two days are ever the same!”

Jeff enjoys the dynamism of the school and says: “We have never been ones to rest on our laurels; we’re always moving forward. One of our main drivers is developing an ambitious and aspirational curriculum designed to redress social disadvantage at the earliest opportunity, with an emphasis on cultural capital to develop ambition and raise aspiration.”

One of Jeff’s favourite aspects of his role is seeing past pupils visit the school to share their experiences. He feels a great deal of pride when he hears the stories of students who have gone on to university (often being the first person in their family to have done so), joined the armed forces, secured an apprenticeship, or started their first job.

After Christmas, Jeff will be taking a step back and handing over the reins to his successor.  He is hoping to spend time with them in order to make the transition as seamless as possible. Jeff is looking forward to travelling more and is planning some exciting trips to Peru, Ecuador, and the Galapagos Islands! He is also keen to spend more time walking with his much-loved dog, a Miniature Schnauzer named Douglas.
