A Litherland primary school is starting a new chapter after joining the Great Schools Trust.

King’s Lander Primary Academy has become the first primary school within the Great Schools Trust.

The former Lander Road Primary School has more than 260 students and was rated as Good in its last Ofsted inspection in June 2023.

Jeff Taylor, Principal at King’s Lander, said: “We are excited about joining the Great Schools Trust, which shares many of our school’s values. We also look forward to working closely with King’s Hawthornes, which many of our pupils attend in Year 7 and beyond.

“We have already started sharing knowledge and experience in different subject areas which will help the pupils carry on the King’s journey through to Year 11.”

Chair of Governors Caron O’Keeffe added: “Joining with the Great Schools Trust will greatly benefit the school and its pupils. It enables us to provide children with a high-quality education right through to the age of 16, as King’s Hawthornes is one of our leading feeder schools.

“When pupils leave us for King’s Hawthornes, the ethos and approach to their learning will be the same as they have experienced here, making the transition easier to help them fulfil their full potential.”

Shane Ierston, CEO of the Great Schools Trust, welcomed King’s Lander Primary Academy to the Trust:

“I am delighted to welcome the school as the first primary school to join the Great Schools Trust. It is a fantastic school with a strong sense of community and a real commitment shown by colleagues, governors, parents, carers, and pupils.

“We know that the school shares the Great Schools Trusts ethos of working to help transform the life chances of our students by building great learning communities where children flourish, and we look forward to working with the pupils and staff at Lander.”
