Former King’s Leadership Academy Liverpool student Alicja Nickeas is currently studying at Carmel college and will be progressing on to Queen Mary University of London, with an impressive unconditional offer to study Business Management.

Alicja was raised in Poland and enrolled at King’s Liverpool in Year 8. She felt thoroughly supported during this transition, describing the academy as “culturally diverse, welcoming and understanding.” She settled in well and felt that the teachers were dedicated to supporting her and helping her reach her full potential.

Alicja thrived during her time at the school and was even appointed as Deputy Head Girl, a role which involved participating in student parliament, presenting to her peers, and supporting at school events such as open evenings. This experience helped Alicja to greatly develop her confidence and interpersonal skills.

Alicja was also a member of the Combined Cadet Force, and had the opportunity to take part in shooting competitions as well as fly a light aircraft. She describes her time as a cadet as “a fantastic experience” and feels that her cadet training equipped her with a wide range of life skills. She states: “Being a cadet helped me gain so much confidence and made me feel ready for the future. I was proud to be a cadet and felt like a real role model to other students. Ted Roberts and the King’s Adventure Team are brilliant and offer the schools some great experiences.”

After completing her studies at King’s Liverpool, Alicja progressed on to further education and is currently studying Level 3 Business, A Level Spanish and A Level Polish at Carmel College. Alicja is especially passionate about Business and has recently completed a two-week work placement at King’s Leadership Academy Phoenix, in order to gain first-hand experience of day-to-day life in an office environment.

Alicja particularly enjoys working with numbers and is keen to pursue a career in finance or accounting. She is looking forward to university and has high hopes for the future: “I am very ambitious, and I want to succeed in my career. I would like to set an example for younger students and show them that anything is possible when they work hard for it.”
