Celebrating Leadership: CCF Promotions for our King’s Adventure Team

Back

The Great Schools Trust is incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of Michael Rowlands and Indi Mackintosh, two of our dedicated King’s Adventure Leaders, who have both recently been promoted within the Combined Cadet Force (CCF). Their unwavering commitment to providing students with invaluable opportunities through the CCF is truly inspiring, and their promotions are a testament to their dedication and leadership.

The Combined Cadet Force exists to help young people develop life skills, confidence, and leadership - preparing them to reach their full potential both in school and beyond. The King’s Adventure Team works closely with the CCF to ensure that students across the trust benefit from these enriching experiences.

Michael Rowlands, King’s Adventure Leader at King’s Leadership Academy Hawthornes, has been promoted to Lieutenant in his role as Section Commander. Reflecting on his achievement, Michael shared:

“I am incredibly proud to accept the promotion to Lieutenant in my role as Section Commander at King’s Hawthornes. On a weekly basis, our students take part in cadets, and it is always a delight to see so many of them embracing the unique opportunities that our Royal Marine Combined Cadet Force offers.

Hawthornes hosts the largest CCF section within our Trust, with an incredible 80 cadets on roll. I am so proud of each of my students, both past and present. Seeing them develop into young leaders is one of the greatest privileges of being a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer (CFAV). I look forward to continuing our work and growing our section over the coming years - proud to be Hawthornes!”

Similarly, Indi Mackintosh, King’s Adventure Leader at King’s Leadership Academy Bolton, has been promoted to Captain in the Royal Marine Cadet Force as King’s Bolton’s Section Commander. Expressing her excitement, Indi said:

“I am incredibly proud of my recent promotion to Captain in the Royal Marine Cadet Force. This achievement is not only an honour but also a privilege. I owe a great deal of gratitude to 2Lt Stones (King’s Bolton) and newly promoted Lt Rowlands, whose unwavering support made this possible.

My journey began as a cadet in the Air Training Corps, where I was fortunate to have incredible staff who provided me with countless opportunities. Now, as a CFAV, I have the privilege of offering the same experiences to cadets across the Trust. One of the greatest joys of this role is witnessing cadets push themselves beyond their comfort zones and engage in activities they might not otherwise experience outside of the King’s Adventure or CCF programme.

Looking forward, I am filled with enthusiasm and determination to make a positive impact. I am committed to fostering an environment where cadets can thrive, grow, and achieve their fullest potential. Together, we will continue to build a strong, supportive community that encourages excellence.”

The leadership and dedication of both Michael and Indi have played a crucial role in the continued success of the CCF within the Trust. Their commitment to shaping young leaders through character development and outdoor education aligns perfectly with the values of the King’s Adventure Programme.

Ted Roberts, Head of King’s Adventure, praised their achievements, stating:

“It’s great to see staff rising through the ranks, and Michael and Indi are very deserving of these promotions. The hard work that goes into the cadet programmes at Bolton and Hawthornes is a testament to their commitment and dedication to the development of their students. To see these units growing and becoming more successful is fantastic and inspiring. Keep up all the hard work you put into King’s Adventure!”

At the Great Schools Trust, we are immensely proud of Michael and Indi for their continued efforts in making a difference in the lives of our students. Their continued passion and hard work ensure that young people within the Trust are given incredible opportunities to challenge themselves, grow in confidence, and aspire to achieve greatness.
